- Assist in managing and supporting AWS infrastructure (EC2, EBS, VPC, S3, RDS)
- Support containerized workloads running on Nomad and/or Kubernetes
- Help maintain and optimize CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar)
- Work with SQL Server on EC2, including basic monitoring, patching coordination, and performance troubleshooting
- Use AI-powered tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, observability insights) to improve productivity and automate repetitive tasks
- Contribute to Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred)
- Monitor systems, investigate alerts, and assist in incident response
- Write scripts (Python/Bash) to automate operational workflows
- Collaborate with engineering teams to improve deployment reliability and system performance
- Maintain documentation, runbooks, and troubleshooting guides
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Basic understanding of AWS cloud services (EC2, networking, RDS, storage)
- Familiarity with Linux systems and command-line usage
- Understanding of CI/CD concepts
- Basic scripting knowledge (Python or Bash)
- Exposure to Docker containers
- Foundational understanding of databases (SQL Server preferred)
- Interest in using AI tools in engineering workflows
- Strong troubleshooting mindset and eagerness to learn
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to Nomad or Kubernetes (even at a basic level)
- Familiarity with Terraform or Infrastructure as Code concepts
- Basic understanding of SQL Server performance concepts (IOPS, storage, backups)
- Experience with monitoring/observability tools (Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch)
- Familiarity with Git-based workflows
- Exposure to networking fundamentals (VPC, subnets, security groups)
What You’ll Work On
- Supporting high-IOPS, large-scale SQL Server workloads on AWS
- Running and troubleshooting container orchestration platforms (Nomad/K8s)
- Improving deployment pipelines and reducing manual operational overhead
- Applying AI-assisted DevOps practices for faster debugging and automation
- Helping modernize infrastructure toward scalable and resilient architectures
What You’ll Learn
- Real-world cloud architecture and cost-performance tradeoffs (EC2 vs managed services)
- Hands-on container orchestration (Nomad & Kubernetes)
- Managing stateful workloads (SQL Server) in cloud environments
- Advanced CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code practices
- Practical use of AI in DevOps (AIOps, automation, intelligent troubleshooting)
Nice to Have Mindset
- Curiosity about how AI can improve DevOps workflows
- Strong ownership and willingness to dig into production issues
- Passion for automation and reducing manual work
- Good communication and collaboration skills
Bonus (Differentiators)
- Exposure to high-throughput systems (IOPS-heavy workloads)
- Interest in platform engineering and internal developer platforms
