The Mission

As a Database Administrator, you will be the guardian of our core asset the data powering PeoplesHR. This isn't just about "monitoring", it’s about architecting high-availability systems, optimizing massive transactional workloads, and leading the transition into advanced Azure SQL environments.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Own the performance, availability, and reliability of MS SQL databases across multiple environments
- Diagnose and resolve complex database performance issues in high-transaction systems
- Design and implement scalable database architectures and indexing strategies
- Lead database optimization and tuning initiatives to improve response times and efficiency
- Implement and maintain robust backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies
- Manage and secure databases in compliance with internal data security policies
- Administer and support Azure SQL environments and cloud-based infrastructure
- Collaborate with engineering teams to support application performance and deployments
- Continuously improve monitoring, automation, and database health checks
Who You Are
- The SQL Specialist: You possess 7+ years of IT experience, with at least 4+ years specifically focused on MS SQL Server Administration. You don't just use SQL, you understand its engine.
- Cloud Fluency: You have hands-on experience with Azure SQL and Cloud technologies. If you’ve migrated environments from on-prem to cloud, we want to talk to you.
- Problem Solver: You thrive in high-volume transaction environments where "five nines" availability is the goal.
- Academic Grounding: You hold a Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field.
