Associate Software Engineer

About The Role

We are looking for a motivated Associate Software Engineer to join our Colombo office and contribute to building both the backend services and user-facing interfaces of our AI-native risk and compliance platform. This is a hands-on, full-stack-leaning role where you will work across Python-based APIs and modern React UIs, collaborating closely with senior engineers to deliver features that matter to financial institutions worldwide.

What You'll Do

• Build and maintain backend APIs and services using Python, contributing to the core intelligence layer of our platform
• Develop responsive, accessible UI components and features using React, working from designs to production-ready implementation
• Integrate frontend interfaces with backend APIs and real-time data sources, ensuring a seamless user experience
• Write clean, well-tested code and participate actively in code reviews with guidance from senior engineers
• Collaborate with product, design, and engineering teammates to understand requirements and translate them into working software
• Support deployment and monitoring of backend and frontend services on AWS, building operational awareness over time
• Debug and resolve issues across the stack from API behaviour to UI rendering with a methodical, detail-oriented approach
• Contribute ideas in team discussions and grow your understanding of graph data, LLMs, and AI workflows as they apply to our product
  
  
  

Who We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a closely related technical discipline
• 1–3 years of hands-on experience in backend development with Python and RESTful API design, and some exposure to frontend development with React or a comparable modern framework
• Familiarity with relational or NoSQL databases and a willingness to learn graph data concepts (Neo4j experience is a plus but not required)
• Basic exposure to AWS services (Lambda, S3, ECS, or similar) or a genuine interest in cloud-native development
• A good eye for UI quality: you care about how things look and feel, not just whether they work
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to ask the right questions and keep teammates informed
• A structured, curious approach to problem-solving with high attention to detail and a habit of writing maintainable code
• Comfortable working in an evolving environment where you are expected to learn quickly and take increasing ownership over time
