About the role
We are seeking a part-time, remote UI/UX Designer to help create clean, intuitive, and accessible user experiences for web-based products. You will translate high-level goals into user-centered flows, wireframes, and polished UI designs, collaborating closely with product and engineering. This role is ideal for a designer who can work independently, communicate clearly in a remote environment, and deliver practical design solutions that are ready to build.
Key responsibilities
- Partner with product and engineering to understand goals, constraints, and user needs
- Turn requirements into user flows, information architecture, wireframes, and interactive prototypes
- Design clear, consistent user interfaces for web applications (layouts, components, navigation, states)
- Create and maintain design systems or component libraries to support scalable UI development
- Produce production-ready design specs and assets for engineering handoff
- Apply usability, accessibility, and visual design best practices (including responsive design)
- Gather feedback from stakeholders and iterate quickly while keeping the experience coherent
- Support basic user research activities when possible (interviews, surveys, usability tests) and synthesize findings into actionable improvements
- Review implemented work to ensure design quality and consistency, and suggest refinements
Qualifications
Required
- 3+ years of UI/UX design experience for web products (or equivalent portfolio experience)
- Strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end UX thinking and polished UI execution
- Ability to design user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity UI
- Strong visual design fundamentals: typography, layout, color, hierarchy, spacing
- Experience designing responsive web experiences and understanding common UI patterns
- Familiarity with accessibility principles and designing for usability and clarity
- Proficiency with modern design tools (for example Figma or similar)
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain design decisions and incorporate feedback
- Ability to manage time effectively in a part-time schedule and deliver iterative progress
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with analytics-informed design and basic A/B testing concepts
- Experience conducting user research or facilitating usability tests
- Basic understanding of front-end development constraints (HTML/CSS concepts)
Working style and collaboration
- Part-time, remote
- Must maintain 4 hours per day overlap with CST
- Collaboration is primarily remote with regular check-ins and async communication

- Handoffs are complete and reduce back-and-forth during implementation
- The product UI becomes more coherent over time through reusable components and standards
