𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘅 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗣𝘃𝘁 𝗟𝘁𝗱We are inviting applications from driven and technically capable students or recent graduates seeking a rigorous, high-impact internship in Backend Development. Interns will contribute directly to the development of live systems, APIs, databases, and server-side logic powering real-world applications across multiple industries.
Successful candidates will gain hands-on experience building and deploying production-grade backend systems, strengthen their understanding of scalable architecture and secure API design, and develop the technical discipline required to operate within professional software engineering environments.
You will work within structured development workflows, collaborating closely with front-end developers, designers, and product leads to deliver reliable, performant and maintainable systems. This internship provides practical exposure to professional engineering standards and modern backend architecture.
The scale and expectations of this role reflect the standard at which we operate. One of our launched mobile products CityBus Sri Lanka surpassed 10000 downloads within its first month of operation demonstrating both strong user adoption and our ability to deliver meaningful digital solutions. Interns will work on high-growth, user-facing products across multiple sectors.
(1) Key responsibilities will include
• Designing and developing server-side applications and APIs
• Building and maintaining databases and data models
• Implementing authentication, security, and access controls
• Integrating third-party services and external APIs
• Participating in debugging, testing, and code reviews
(2) We are particularly interested in candidates who demonstrate
• Strong understanding of programming fundamentals and data structures
• Experience with at least one backend language (e.g, Node.js, Python, Java, PHP, or similar)
• Basic understanding of databases (SQL or NoSQL)
• Attention to security, efficiency, and clean code practices
(3) In addition, the following competencies would be advantageous, though they are not mandatory
• Experience building RESTful APIs
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Understanding of authentication mechanisms (JWT, OAuth)
• Knowledge of Docker or containerization
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines
• Interest in scalable system architecture and product innovation
