About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Junior Data Platform Engineer to join our growing data engineering team. This is an entry-level role designed for individuals with a foundational understanding of data platforms, databases, and cloud technologies who are eager to build a long-term career in data platform engineering. You will work closely with experienced engineers to support the development, operation, and reliability of enterprise data platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the development, deployment, and maintenance of data platforms, pipelines, and supporting infrastructure.
- Work with both structured and unstructured data from multiple sources, including databases, data warehouses, and file systems.
- Collaborate with Data Engineers, DBAs, and Software Engineers to ensure reliable data ingestion, processing, and availability.
- Support the monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolution of data platform issues.
- Assist with basic data modeling, database administration tasks, and performance checks as required.
- Participate in on-call or 24/7 support rotations, when required, to ensure platform stability and availability.
- Follow engineering best practices, documentation standards, and operational procedures.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a Data Platform, Data Engineering, or related technical role.
- Foundational knowledge of relational databases such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL, or similar technologies.
- Basic understanding of SQL for querying and data manipulation.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms, with a preference for AWS.
- Basic awareness of networking concepts and experience with Linux command-line operations.
Preferred Skills (Good to Have)
- Exposure to scripting or programming languages such as Python.
- Familiarity with ETL tools and data integration workflows.
- Understanding of data warehousing and data lake architectures.
- Experience using version control systems such as Git.
- Awareness of monitoring and observability tools such as Datadog, Grafana, AWS CloudWatch, or similar platforms.
