The Senior Business Analyst – Data Science plays a pivotal role in bridging the gap between business objectives and data-driven solutions. This role focuses on identifying business needs, analyzing processes, and recommending actionable strategies that deliver measurable value. The analyst will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams—including product managers, data scientists, developers, and business leaders—to define requirements, support strategic initiatives, and optimize business performance through data-informed insights.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with stakeholders to gather, define, and prioritize business and functional requirements for data science initiatives.
- Analyze complex business problems and translate them into clear, data-driven requirements and models.
- Create high-quality documentation including business process models, use cases, workflows, and functional specifications.
- Support product and data teams through the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Ensure alignment of business needs with analytics, data engineering, and AI/ML outputs.
- Facilitate communication between technical and non-technical teams to ensure project clarity and alignment.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives.
- Apply risk management techniques and limited scope financial and contract management where applicable.
- Support quality assurance, change management, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Contribute to time management, project scheduling, and milestone tracking activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in business analysis, with a strong focus on data science or analytics projects.
- Proficient in business process modeling, requirements documentation, and stakeholder engagement.
- Skilled in tools such as Microsoft Excel, Visio, JIRA, Confluence, or similar.
- Strong understanding of Agile, Waterfall, or Hybrid SDLC methodologies.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage stakeholder expectations and work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Certifications such as CBAP®, CCBA®, or PMI-PBA® are highly desirable.
- Experience in [insert domain, e.g., banking, healthcare, logistics, software development].
- Familiarity with data analysis and visualization tools such as SQL, Power BI, or Tableau.
- Understanding of UX/UI principles and experience collaborating with design and product teams.
- Exposure to contract and budget management in a limited or project-specific capacity.
