We are seeking a WordPress Developer to lead development of a proof-of-concept migration from a legacy .NET system to WordPress Multi-Site using Gutenberg/React. Youll partner with architects to build plugins, Gutenberg blocks, and data migration strategies that could become the foundation for a larger re-platforming effort.
Required Skills & Experience
- WordPress / PHP (3-5 years)
- Multi-Site architecture (network admin, multi-tenant setup)
- Custom plugin development with object-oriented PHP, hooks/filters, CPTs, taxonomies
- REST API (custom endpoints, authentication, serialization)
- Security best practices (input sanitization, nonce validation, capability checks, SQL protection)
- Performance optimization (caching, query tuning, lazy loading)
- Gutenberg / React / JavaScript (2-4 years)
- Custom Gutenberg blocks (block.json, InspectorControls)
- React fundamentals (hooks, context, props, state)
- Modern JavaScript (ES6+, async/await, modules)
- WordPress data layer (useSelect, useDispatch, custom stores)
- Block patterns, variations, template parts
- Database & Integration (2-4 years)
- MySQL / MariaDB indexing, optimization, schema design
- REST API integration (OAuth, JWT, error handling)
- Data migration / ETL: transformation, validation, rollback
- Enterprise Practices
- Git workflows, branching, pull requests, code review
- CI/CD, automated testing, deployment automation
- Code quality tools (e.g. PHPStan, ESLint, PHP_CodeSniffer)
- Agile methodology, sprint planning, documentation
- Preferred / Bonus Skills
