Your Role
As a Software Engineering Intern specializing in React and Design Systems, you will help design, develop, and maintain a shared component library used across multiple teams. Collaborating closely with experienced engineers, designers, and product stakeholders, you’ll contribute to consistent, accessible, and performant UI components that power our healthcare technology platforms.

Key Responsibilities
- Design System Development: Contribute to the development and maintenance of a scalable, reusable component library in React, ensuring adherence to design guidelines and technical standards.
- Front-End Development: Assist in building user-friendly, responsive web applications using React, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
- Accessibility Implementation: Help ensure that all components meet web accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG), including keyboard navigation and appropriate ARIA usage.
- Component Documentation: Create and maintain clear documentation, usage examples, and guidance for consuming teams.
- Collaborative Development: Work closely with other developers, designers, and cross-functional teams to deliver solutions that align with business goals.
- Testing & Quality Assurance: Participate in code reviews and contribute to unit, integration, and visual regression testing to uphold quality and reliability.
- API Integration: Assist in connecting front-end components to RESTful APIs and backend services.
- Learning & Growth: Stay updated on emerging technologies, design system best practices, and modern React patterns.
- Awareness of web accessibility standards and techniques for creating inclusive experiences.
- Pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience including bootcamps.
- Solid understanding of JavaScript fundamentals and familiarity with TypeScript.
- Basic knowledge of the React framework and its core principles.
- Familiarity with HTML, CSS, React and PostCSS.
- Strong problem-solving skills and effective communication abilities.
- Experience with version control systems like Git.
Education:
- High school diploma equivalency OR Enrolled in accredited program specific to discipline required.
Preferred Additional Experience
Experience in any of the following areas will be advantageous:
- Familiarity with design systems or component libraries (e.g., Storybook, Figma integration).
- Exposure to building reusable, documented React components with thoughtful APIs and props management.
- Knowledge of front-end testing frameworks (e.g., Jest, React Testing Library) and visual regression tools (e.g., Chromatic).
- Awareness of Agile development methodologies and collaborative workflows.
