About the Role:
Our software platform provides powerful navigation tools to organizations working with these vulnerable populations, managing their complicated health and social needs across health records systems, referral management systems, billing systems and more.The Associate Software Engineer who is eager to grow their skills and contribute to the development of our healthcare SaaS platform will need to have strong fundamental foundation in software engineering, exposure to modern frameworks, and a curiosity about emerging AI-assisted development tools. The role will work closely with experienced engineers to build and maintain applications, improve code quality, and learn best practices while contributing to a product that directly impacts vulnerable populations.
Responsibilities:
- Implement well-specified features with guidance from senior engineers
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code
- Contribute to responsive web applications and progressive web apps
- Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and team ceremonies
- Write and maintain automated tests to ensure system reliability
- Collaborate with product and design teams to deliver user-focused solutions
- Document code, specifications, and workflows for clarity and reusability
- Learn and apply prompt engineering, AI-assisted dev tools, and automation frameworks to accelerate productivity
Qualifications & Skills:
Requirements
- Minimum of High School Diploma with 4+ years Software Engineering experience, Bachelors Degreeis preferred.
- 2+ years of experience working as a Software Engineer, healthcare is preferred.
- Ability to work effectively in Agile/Scrum teams
- Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Curiosity, willingness to learn, and openness to mentorship
- Exposure to building applications with Ruby on Rails, Ruby Sinatra, Node.js/Express
- Front-end experience with React and vanilla JavaScript
- Ability to create responsive web apps and PWAs using HTML/CSS
- Basic understanding of RESTful APIs and web services
- Familiarity with databases (SQL or NoSQL such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB)
- Experience using Cursor, MCP agents, LLMs, and Ollama
- Strong understanding of prompt engineering concepts
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, CircleCi) and automation
- Knowledge of separation of concerns, code hygiene, specification-driven development
- Experience with testing frameworks (Cypress, BDD, automation practices)
- Familiarity with Git, branching, and pull request workflows.
- Experience maintaining Ruby on Rails applications in production
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS)
- Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and container orchestration (Kubernetes, Helm)
- Understanding of secure coding practices and handling sensitive data (HIPAA awareness)
- Prior experience in healthcare or workflow automation systems
