You will receive hands-on training, work with experienced database professionals, support real client environments, and gain practical exposure to Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Linux, Windows, automation, monitoring, backup, recovery, and high availability solutions.
Key Responsibilities
As an Intern Database Engineer, you will:
• Attend online learning sessions and complete self-learning tasks
• Monitor database and system health
• Respond to alerts, notifications, and support requests
• Assist with database installation, upgrades, patching, and configuration
• Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues
• Support backup, recovery, and data migration activities
• Assist in maintaining high availability and uptime of client systems
• Participate in automation of database and operational processes
• Join the on-call support roster when required
• Assist with 24x7 database support activities
• Update tasks, incidents, and progress in internal IT systems
• Communicate with clients to ensure service satisfaction
• Attend vendor training, technical events, and certification preparation sessions
• Work with suppliers and technology partners to learn new products and services
• Visit client sites when required and participate in meetings or presentations
Required Skills and Knowledge
The ideal candidate should have:
• A strong interest in database engineering and IT infrastructure
• Problem-solving skills with a positive, can-do attitude
• Good communication and customer support skills
• Basic hands-on experience with Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL
• Knowledge of installing or configuring databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, or PostgreSQL
• Ability to write SQL queries using T-SQL or PL/SQL
• Understanding of database concepts such as transaction processing, concurrency, data modelling, and normalization
• Basic knowledge of backup, recovery, and data migration techniques
• Working knowledge of Windows and Linux environments
• Ability to read and understand technical documentation
• Confidence working with software tools such as JIRA
• Good Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Email
• Strong attention to detail and urgency in resolving issues
• Ability to work in a small, fast-moving technical team
• Good organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines

During the internship, you will be expected to:
• Complete assigned training and learning goals
• Prepare for and pass selected vendor certification exams
• Attend meetings on time
• Respond promptly to emails, phone calls, messages, and client requests
• Maintain and update technical and process documentation
• Resolve incidents within agreed service level targets
• Provide timely updates to supervisors, clients, and internal IT systems
