Position: UI/UX Designer
Compensation: £600 – £1,000 / month
Chapter Stack is a growing digital storytelling platform that empowers writers and readers to connect through serialized fiction. Based in [Location/Remote], we are building a world-class ecosystem for original web fiction, providing the tools and community needed to turn individual stories into global movements.
- 3+ years of proven UI/UX design experience across web-based platforms and mobile applications.
- Bachelor’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Fine Arts, or a related field.
- A robust portfolio demonstrating a deep understanding of user flows, wireframing, and high-fidelity visual design.
- Expertise in Figma as your primary design and prototyping tool.
- Proficiency in visual design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator) for asset creation and branding.
- Deep understanding of UX principles, including user research, information architecture, and usability testing.
- Experience in building and maintaining design systems to ensure brand consistency across a rapidly scaling platform.
- Strong visual aesthetic with an emphasis on typography, layout, and color theory tailored for a reading-centric audience.
- Excellent communication skills to articulate design decisions to product managers, developers, and stakeholders.
- Execute the full design lifecycle: From initial discovery and user research to wireframing, prototyping, and final UI handoff.
- Evolve the Chapter Stack Design System: Ensure our visual language remains scalable and consistent across all digital touchpoints.
- Enhance the Reader & Writer Experience: Optimize interfaces for long-form reading, content discovery, and publishing workflows.
- Collaborate with Engineering: Work closely with front-end developers to ensure designs are implemented with pixel-perfect accuracy.
- Conduct Usability Testing: Gather feedback from our community of readers and writers to iterate and improve the platform.
- Define Visual Identity: Maintain and expand our brand guidelines, ensuring they resonate with a creative and literary audience.
- Present & Defend Designs: Facilitate design reviews and secure approval from key stakeholders by showcasing data-driven design solutions.
- Experience in Content-Heavy Platforms: Background in designing for e-readers, blogging platforms, or social media apps.
- Micro-interactions: Knowledge of Lottie or Principle to create engaging animations that delight users.
- Front-end Awareness: A basic understanding of HTML/CSS/React to better bridge the gap between design and development.
