About the Role
The Financial Analyst must integrate deep financial expertise with industry-specific and knowledge and commercial thinking to drive value. Their role is not only to manage financial performance but also to partner with the business to achieve strategic goals while maintaining financial integrity and risk control.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Finance Business Partners and functional teams with understanding their financial needs and provide support in financial planning, analysis, and decision-making
- Support Finance Business Partners with ensuring stakeholders have full understanding and ownership of their P&L performance and insight into growth opportunities
- Analyse financial performance, key metrics, and trends to identify areas of opportunity or risk. Provide actionable insights to improve business performance and drive profitability
- Prepare financial reports, variance analysis and KPIs for senior management and other stakeholders. Highlight key insights and recommendations to support decision-making
- Reporting & planning for the P&L, cashflow and balance sheet (where appropriate) for weekly, monthly, rolling and strategic forecasts
- Modelling of strategic investment including appraisal, performance reporting and PIR
- Own and deliver reporting requirements and developments to optimise data lead decision making
- Providing effective commercial procedures, or initiating change, to ensure key operational, commercial and financial targets are delivered
- Building and maintaining strong partnerships with Finance Business Partners and the wider business whilst continuously evaluating and improving financial planning and analysis processes, systems, and tools to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness
Job Requirements
- Financial Expertise: Proven understanding of accounting principles and ability to implement pragmatic application
- Advanced Financial Modelling: Ability to create and interpret complex financial models for forecasting, budgeting, and scenario analysis using advanced Excel tools
- Variance Analysis: Analysing the differences between actual and budgeted financial performance and providing actionable insight to stakeholders
- Clear Reporting: Ability to translate complex financial data into clear, concise, and actionable reports and presentations for non-finance stakeholders
- Presentation Skills: Presenting financial findings to senior management or non-finance stakeholders in a way that is easily understood and actionable
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Building relationships across departments to ensure financial strategies align with business objectives
- Teamwork: Ability to collaborate within the finance team and across departments to achieve organizational goals and having fun whilst delivering
Good to have experience, skills & certifications
- Financial Reporting: Strong understanding of relevant UK specific and industry related accounting principles
- Data Analytics & Visualisation: Proficiency in financial analysis tools like Power BI, Tableau or similar software to analyse large datasets and present insights
- Automation & Process Improvement: Understanding how technology can streamline financial processes, improve accuracy and reduce manual work
- Understanding Customer Needs: Experience in recognising the customer and market dynamics to ensure the financial implications are aligned with customer-driven solutions
- Mentorship and Leadership: Leading finance teams or collaborating with other departments to drive financial excellence within the organization
- Stakeholder Management: Ability to interact and influence senior executives, operational leaders, and external partners with confidence and credibility
- Influencing Skills: Ability to influence others, especially in situations where financial insight impacts business decisions and performance
