Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role based out of Kotte. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, optimizing, testing, and maintaining software. You will assist the technical lead in coaching, mentoring and providing leadership to the engineering team.
Responsibilities
· Develop & optimize scalable, high-performance backend systems for carrier billing and VAS platforms.
· Integrate APIs with aggregators, telecom operators, payment gateways, and content providers.
· Enhance transaction security & fraud prevention mechanisms to ensure compliance with telecom regulations.
· Design micro services & cloud-based architectures that can handle millions of daily transactions.
· Optimize performance & reliability by improving database queries, caching strategies, and event-driven architectures.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product managers, developers, and DevOps engineers.
· Implement monitoring & logging solutions for real-time insights into system health and transactions.
Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
· 4+ years of post-graduate experience in backend software development, preferably in mobile value-added services, direct carrier billing, payments, telecom, or fintech.
· Proven experience in software development and API integration.
· Proficiency in object-oriented programming language (e.g., Ruby, Java, C#, Python).
· Willingness to learn Ruby if unfamiliar with the language.
· Familiarity with message queues & event-driven architectures (e.g. SQS, RabbitMQ)
· Strong understanding of software testing and debugging practices.
· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to troubleshoot complex billing integrations.
