About Us
Aro Health is a UK based company that is revolutionizing the patient data landscape — putting the power of healthcare data back into the hands of the people. Our mission is to change the world by reshaping the very fabric of how healthcare stakeholders interact, making health data more accessible, more secure, and more empowering than ever before.
We are an early-stage startup building our flagship product, Aro Health, which enables patients to forward their health reports (blood tests, scans, and more) via WhatsApp, email, or direct upload and see them standardized and stored securely in a personal dashboard.
You will be joining as our first developer and will play a central role in building our MVP, with the target of launching in 3–6 months.
Responsibilities
- Spearhead the development of the MVP, focusing on the core features and data ingestion workflows.
- Build data pipelines to capture healthcare reports through WhatsApp, email, and direct upload.
- Implement OCR and parsing logic to handle different report formats.
- Develop backend APIs (Node.js/TypeScript) to support the user dashboard and data storage.
- Build the initial version of the Aro Health dashboard (Next.js/React) for web users.
- Deploy and maintain the system on cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP) with a focus on security and reliability.
- Work closely with the founding team to iterate quickly and deliver a usable MVP.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as a full-stack developer, with strong emphasis on backend systems.
- Proficiency in Node.js (TypeScript) for backend/API development.
- Strong Python skills for OCR and data parsing (experience with Tesseract, OpenCV, or pdfplumber is a plus).
- Solid knowledge of relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP) and deploying production applications.
- Comfortable working independently in a small, fast-moving team.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with healthcare data standards such as FHIR or HL7.
- Experience with WhatsApp Business API, Twilio, or email ingestion services (SES, Gmail API).
- Background in healthtech, fintech, or other secure-data applications.
- Frontend development experience with React/Next.js.
