Position - Intern Application Management
Role Profile
The Internship role will allow recent graduates (or those seeking internships as part of their learning curriculum) to obtain industrial exposure to support real-world production services, Investigate issues, develop fixes, support new releases, perform general maintenance and administration. They would be expected to use their theoretical knowledge to apply new functionality through enhancements and performance tuning when required.
They need to provide support to Applications on 24X5 Basis (Covering Morning, Day and Night Shifts based on UK Timing). Out of hours support overnight and across weekends and Bank Holidays are frequently needed.
They are expected to build strong business knowledge by working with business teams during investigations.
They need to collaborate and learn from subject matter experts in the technologies used by the applications supported. They may be required to provide detailed technical support for developers producing new releases of these applications.
Must be self-motivating with the ability to prioritize workload amongst the team.
Key Responsibilities
Support of the LCH applications related to Shared Technical Platforms / Clearing Services.
Support a critical element of the London financial infrastructure.
- Resolve Incidents and Problems
- Monitor Different tools such as DataDog , ServiceNow & Email Alerts for Incidents and Problems
- Analyze problems and decide on suitable resolutions
- Apply resolutions following the LCH Change Management procedure
- Report current status to relevant business and IT teams
- Record progress of incident resolution in ServiceNow
- Follow documented incident management procedures
- Bug fixes and enhancements to LCH products
- Design solutions for longer term fixes for application bugs and small functionality enhancement requests
- Implement application fixes
- Update Bitbucket with source code changes where necessary
- Update relevant documentation with changes
- Co-ordinate the Release process for new releases
- Work to the ITIL standard following LCH policies
- Maintain working relationship with business teams and business management
- Out of hours support
- Be available for overnight support of production services to ensure successful completion of processing
- Respond to overnight calls and deal with issues
- Support weekend releases and maintenance work
- Participate in Production out of hours activities such as Disaster Recovery exercises
- Assist in project related work
- Carry out requirements as defined by project team
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Education
- Degree educated (Or Reading for a Degree), preferably in a technical discipline
Required Skills And Experience
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Good Understanding on Database Concepts & SQL
- Curriculum covering UNIX OS skills (RHCSA Certification Beneficial)
- Scripting skills (UNIX shell scripting: bash, korn shell, Python)
- Good experience supporting Java based distributed platforms
- Understanding on apache tomcat (Beneficial)
- Web application testing experience using Selenium (Beneficial)
- Understanding on version control (GIT/ bitbucket).
- Understanding of product development lifecycle and methodologies
- Exposure to Jenkins, Ansible and AWS Cloud Technologies will be an added advantage
Person Specification
- Excellent analytical skills, Attention to Detail and problem-solving abilities
- Experience of working in Individual & Team Projects
- Strong technical background in the core technologies mentioned in curriculum
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely to IT and business teams and to senior management
